    ABC Selfie Social Media Cleanse

    September 29, 2014 / Sponsored

    Selfie on ABC

I was recently challenged to go on a social media cleanse to not use my cell phone for 24 hours and I must admit that this is definitely a challenge for me. While I’m not always posting on social media as frequently as others I am on my cell phone for most of the day and it’s a part of my daily routine. I find it very difficult to have a cell phone in my presence and not make use of it. I mean what’s the point really any ways. Whether I’m searching Google, pinning or blog stalking for inspiration I always have something to keep me entertained via social media. I know that I am not alone I’m sure that many of us struggle with on a daily basis.

I must admit I feel so lost without my phone and the moment I think I have left home without it I immediately panic and no matter how far I am gone I will turn right back around to make that trip back home to grab it. My cell phone is like my purse and definitely very necessary. I need it to function and to get me through the day.

I took the Selfie personality quiz and it shows that I’m: Mobile Maniac

    • You have been known to panic if you experience momentary separation from your phone.
    • You can recount several occasions of personal injury caused by walking into things while on your phone.
    • Your favorite meal companion is your phone…regardless of whom you’re actually eating  with.

During my cleanse I put my phone on sleep mode to accept emergency calls only for 24 hours. While this was a challenge for me I willingly accepted the challenge and was able to get so much more done throughout the day. It allowed me to clear my mind without any distractions from my cell phone as well as connect with my family without picking up my cell phone so often. It’s crazy how this little device consumes so much of our daily lives. After watching the previews of the new show on ABC Selfie I can definitely relate with Eliza and realize how important it is to not only have internet connections, but personal connections as even more important.

Tune in at 8pm/7pm CST on September 30th for the new comedy Selfie on ABC where social media superstar Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan) has 263,000 followers who hang on to her every post, tweet and selfie. But after a workplace mishap goes viral, she quickly realizes that being “instafamous” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and being friended is not the same as having actual friends. After watching the previews this shows seems like one we all can somehow relate to…will you be tuning in to watch?
